How It Works

Networkfleet™ is the first commercially available aftermarket system that dynamically measures and reports the status of a vehicle's diagnostic performance. Once installed in a vehicle, our patented system collects diagnostic data from a host vehicle's on-board computer and location information from a global positioning system (GPS) and transmits these data over a conventional wireless network to an Internet-based computer system. The computer system analyzes the data and posts the results on a secure web site. (www.networkcar.com).

Benefits for Fleet Managers

  • Online access to vehicle location information
  • A sophisticated reporting suite
  • Real-time e-mail alerts of vehicle problems and service milestones

How does Networkcar process the in-vehicle data?
Our back-end software system automatically extracts and analyses diagnostic and location information sent from the in-vehicle unit. A software system automatically analyses diagnostic data from the database with a series of calculations to determine properties such as: vehicle alerts, emissions status, fuel efficiency and fuel consumed, historical and present vehicle speed, and historical analysis of diagnostic information to monitor vehicle problems.

Similarly, the software system includes calculations that analyze location information to determine the vehicle's location (using a map and numerical street address), vehicle tracks, driving directions, and landmarking applications. All analyses are done either automatically or following user-initiated commands.

What types of vehicles can be equipped with Networkfleet?
Networkfleet is compatible with virtually all cars manufactured since 1996 and trucks manufactured since 1988. This includes Class 1-3 passenger cars and light-duty trucks, Class 4-6 medium-duty trucks and Class 7-8 heavy-duty trucks. Networkfleet interfaces with ISO, J1708 and CAN protocols.

Award Winning Technology
With over 20 patents surrounding remote vehicle diagnostics, Networkfleet is continually recognized as an industry leader.

In recent months, the company has received Telematics Update Magazine's "Telematics Award for Top Commercial Vehicle Solution", Frost and Sullivan's "Technology Leadership Award - Remote Vehicle Diagnostics, the EPA's "Clean Air Excellence Award" for our Remote Smog Check Technology, and the "Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase Award" from the Consumer Electronics Association.

In 2003, Networkcar received R&D Magazine's "Top 100 Award" for introducing one of the most technologically significant products of the past year.
